About The Role

In this role, you will be integral to developing and maintaining highly scalable microservices within a distributed deployment environment, emphasizing containerization with Docker and Kubernetes. Rather than working on basic CRUD applications, you will engage with the core logic of complex systems that handle millions of interactions daily. The platform was built from scratch approximately three years ago, allowing you to work with the latest technologies without legacy code constraints. Your primary focus will be on ensuring system stability, robustness, and performance to support a large user base. As part of a 24/7 coverage team, you will contribute to maintaining the platform's reliability and excellence, helping Sporty Group achieve its goal of becoming the world's leading sporting platform.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in software development
  • Strong background in building scalable web backends
  • Based within Europe
  • Proficiency in modern frameworks and technologies such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring Data
  • Experience with designing highly transactional systems and deep knowledge of Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles
  • Expertise in SQL and hands-on experience with containerization and cloud solutions like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work independently
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in technologies such as RabbitMQ, Redis, MySQL, and MongoDB
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and non-functional qualities like resilience and maintainability

Responsibilities

  • Develop highly scalable and reliable backend services for millions of users, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to define new features, user stories, and technical requirements for evolving applications and large-scale projects.
  • Participate actively in code reviews to ensure adherence to architectural standards, best practices, and project requirements.
  • Respond promptly to support calls and incidents in production environments, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Engage in all team ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming sessions, product demonstrations, and retrospectives to foster a collaborative development process.
  • Mentor less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to strengthen team capabilities and project outcomes.
