Leading eCommerce client now requires an experienced Backend Java Developer to join their team and work on a migration of their legacy Java and cloud services.
This role will help build and scale high-performance, resilient systems that power a large-scale online eCommerce platform.
The Role:
- Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Work with both SQL and NoSQL (DynamoDB) databases to support high-volume transactional and product data.
- Develop and deploy cloud-native services on AWS.
- Write clean, well-tested code, following TDD and strong automated testing practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, QA, DevOps) in an agile environment.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Key Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, ideally including DynamoDB.
- Practical experience with AWS (e.g. Lambda, S3, EC2, DynamoDB, or similar services).
- Strong testing mindset — TDD, unit testing, integration testing & Test automation.
- Experience working in agile, collaborative development teams.
- Good communication skills and a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach.

This is an initial 6-month rolling contract which provides a daily rate of £600 (Inside IR35).
In terms of working structure, this is flexible with occasional days in our client's Manchester office.
