Baggage Handler - Edinburgh Airport
Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are excited to be recruiting Baggage Handler for a prestigious client at Edinburgh Airport. All positions offer full-time hours and overtime opportunities. The Baggage Handler role involves supporting our Aviation Sector Airlines and Passengers. The ideal candidate will have strong operational and driving experience, a clean driving licence, 5 years continuous employment or accountant verified work history and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. PLEASE NOTE: This role requires a Full UK Manual Driving Licence with 0 driving points. Start Date: 13th April 2026
What’s on offer: Rate of Pay: £13.70 per hour Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off - rotation. Shift timings: 08:00 to 20:00 or 10:00 to 22:00 (10 to 12 hour shifts) Weekly Pay (every Friday) Full training provided Temp to Perm (performance-based)
Key Duties: Collect and clear passenger luggage and goods from airside locations in accordance with airport and airline protocols. Ensure compliance with all airside driving, security, and safety regulations. Assist to Plan, organise, and execute deliveries using the most cost-efficient and timely routes. - Communicate effectively with airport authorities, handling agents, and Airlines to confirm collection and delivery details. Safely drive a van to transport goods between multiple locations, primarily in the vicinity of the Depot, with occasional trips to other regions. Ensure timely and safe delivery of passenger luggage and other goods. Load and unload items from the van, including heavy luggage, ensuring secure placement to avoid damage during transit. Perform routine checks on the van, including tyre pressure, fluid levels, lights, and brakes, to ensure the vehicle is in good condition.

Requirements: Full UK Manual Driving Licence (must be valid and have 0 points). Experience in delivery, courier, or logistics operations enabling planning and operational efficiencies Experience driving for commercial purposes is essential. Ability to handle heavy lifting tasks, with experience in safely moving and transporting heavy items. Minimum 5 years continuous employment or accountancy validated self employed work history available for reference. Successful candidates will be required to complete a basic criminal record check following interview in line with CAA requirements.
