Mrs Sourdough is a bakery, patisserie, and coffee shop based in Chatham, Kent, known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Baker role based at Mrs Sourdough Bakery in Chatham. The Baker will prepare and bake sourdough bread, cookies, cakes, and other baked goods in line with the bakery’s artisan standards. Daily tasks include:

The role also involves food preparation for the patisserie and lunch offerings, following hygiene and safety procedures, and supporting the team with opening, restocking, and cleaning duties. The Baker will collaborate with colleagues to ensure displays are appealing and that customers receive fresh products throughout the day.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills and experience in bakery operations, including artisan baking and bakery production.
  • Proficiency in food preparation, with knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen organization.
  • Ability to produce high-quality bread, with an understanding of sourdough techniques and traditional methods.
  • Experience making a variety of baked goods such as cookies and other sweet and savory items.
  • Previous professional baking or pastry experience in a bakery, café, or similar environment.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work efficiently during early mornings and peak periods.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small team.
  • Relevant culinary or baking training or certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
