Balance Operator

Role Location: Prescot

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (13:30 - 21:30)

Contract: Full Time & Permanent

Hours: 37.5

Are you someone who takes pride in precision and accuracy? We're looking for a Balance Operator to join our laboratory team in Prescot. This is an excellent opportunity to build a career in a busy, ISO 17025 accredited laboratory where quality and attention to detail are at the heart of everything we do.

As a Balance Operator, you'll play a vital role in the analytical process by preparing and accurately weighing samples used in fire assay testing. Whether you have previous laboratory experience or are looking to develop new skills, full training will be provided for the right candidate.

The Day to Day

  • Accurately weigh fire assay samples ranging from 0.5g to 20g, depending on the testing method.
  • Carefully and precisely measure ore, concentrate and metal samples for analysis.
  • Mix and blend samples to ensure they are fully homogenised before weighing.
  • Operate and carry out routine maintenance of precision weighing equipment.
  • Operate and maintain sample drying equipment.
  • Support sample storage, handling and distribution throughout the laboratory.
  • Replenish consumables and materials required for the weighing process.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe Balance Room.
  • Work to laboratory procedures and quality standards within an ISO 17025 environment.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals and reagents.
  • Assist with other laboratory duties as required to support departmental workloads.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
