Job Title: Balance Sheet Controller
Location: Kingston including Flexible working
The Role
The Balance Sheet Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and governance of balance sheet accounts across the Retail and Out of Home (OOH) categories. The role provides financial control and oversight over pricing, rebates, claims, and working capital balances, ensuring compliance with company policies and the Magnum Financial Control Framework.
The role acts as a key link between Finance, Commercial, and Operational teams, driving robust controls, timely issue resolution, and continuous process improvement while supporting a strong audit and compliance environment.
What Will You Be Responsible For
Balance Sheet Governance & Controls
- Review price changes and rebate promotions, ensuring appropriate audit evidence is obtained, retained, and compliant with company policy.
- Validate rebate setups, including Joint Business Plans (JBPs), stock holding assumptions, and other commercial agreements to ensure accurate financial accounting.
- Perform monthly reviews of balance sheet releases, ensuring supporting documentation and evidence are complete, accurate, and appropriately approved.
- Conduct quarterly aged balance reviews, driving timely resolution of outstanding items and ensuring full compliance with internal control requirements.
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time, with risks and issues identified and escalated appropriately.

Claims Management & Operational Excellence
- Stabilise operations within the new case management tools for claims handling.
- Ensure claims cases are appropriately reviewed, investigated, approved, and signed off on a timely basis.
- Monitor claims volumes, ageing, and resolution performance, driving process improvements where required.
- Ensure robust controls and audit trails are maintained throughout the claims process.
Financial Controls & Compliance
- Ensure the Magnum Financial Control Framework is fully embedded across the team and operating effectively.
- Coach and support the wider team on the documentation and evidence required to demonstrate control compliance.
- Maintain high standards of control execution, documentation, and audit readiness.
- Support internal and external audits by providing clear and complete supporting evidence for key controls.
Pricing & Commercial Governance
- Ensure price files and discount structures are accurately maintained following the transition to the new TTS structure.
- Validate pricing and discount changes to ensure appropriate approvals, system accuracy, and financial reporting integrity.
- Partner with Commercial and Revenue Growth Management teams to ensure pricing governance and minimise financial risk.
- Monitor rebate, promotion, and pricing-related balance sheet exposures and drive timely resolution of discrepancies.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with Finance, Commercial, Customer Operations, and Shared Service teams.
- Provide clear reporting and insight on key balance sheet risks, aged balances, claims performance, and control effectiveness.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls, and compliance across Retail and Out of Home operations.
Key Metrics / KPIs
- Accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations and reviews.
- Effective management of aged balances and claims resolution.
- Strong compliance with the Magnum Financial Control Framework.
- Robust audit evidence and documentation supporting all key controls.
- Successful embedding and stabilisation of new claims management tools and processes.
- Accurate maintenance and governance of price files, discounts, and rebate programmes.
- Positive audit outcomes with minimal control deficiencies.
- Strong partnership with Retail and Out of Home commercial teams.

What You Need To Succeed
- Strong expertise across BTC processes: pricing, claims, rebates, credit, billing.
- Proficiency in SAP and TPM/ANAPLAN systems; experience with ERP transformations preferred.
- Demonstrated team leadership or coaching experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Effective stakeholder and customer engagement skills.
- FMCG experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
- Part-qualified candidates with relevant financial controlling or audit experience will also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline desirable.
