Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, organised, and patient-focused individual to join the busy Endoscopy Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a part-time Endoscopy Booking Receptionist (30 hours per week, including Saturdays).
The role is responsible for delivering an efficient administrative and reception service, supporting patients throughout their endoscopy journey. Key duties include booking, admitting and discharging patients, checking patient details and documentation, preparing clinic paperwork, scanning and printing records, arranging outpatient and pre-operative appointments, managing appointment changes and maintaining accurate patient records. The post also involves assisting patients collecting bowel preparation, handling telephone enquiries, sending appointment reminders, and liaising closely with endoscopy nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a smooth patient pathway.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathway, experience of handling sensitive patient information, strong data entry skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure in a busy, fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, organisational skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate, patient-centred approach are essential to providing a high-quality service to patients and their families.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
Providing an efficient and professional administrative service
- Undertake data input, accurately inputting data using a variety of Trust IT systems in a timely way
- Communicating with patients and coordinating appointments
- Answering the telephone and taking messages, deal with them in a timely and efficient way and refer as appropriate
- Liaise with staff, patients and external agencies, such as GP's, Dentist's etc
- Provide patients with support, non-clinical advice and information on a range of issues including appointment queries
- Notify patients of new or changes to appointments
- Be sympathetic and sensitive to the requirements of staff, patients and other service users when communicating by telephone or face to face, including dealing with a difficult situation, e.g. aggressive or demanding behaviour; escalating conflict situations where necessary
- Organise own day-to-day work tasks showing an ability to prioritise in order to achieve set timescales

Qualifications
Essential
- Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C) or GCSE Level 9-4
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems
- Experience of working in a busy office / customer care environment
Desirable
- Experience of working in Healthcare

- Confident in dealing with people at all levels
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity
- Ability to travel to multiple sites
