Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to employ a Thyroid Cancer Support Worker as part of the Thyroid Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team.
Reporting to the Lead Thyroid Cancer CNS, the post holder is responsible for gathering and inputting into the Trust's Remote Monitoring Systems (currently held on the SCR-RMS) all remote surveillance tests undertaken by cancer patients.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
- Providing regularly supported conversations with the person living with cancer, assessing their holistic needs, and supporting them to self-manage by providing relevant information and advice, and signposting to other resources and services available to meet their identified needs.
- Coordinate remote surveillance and monitoring through appointments for investigations and feedback of results for non-complex cases.
- Coordinating nurse-led telephone appointments for those with complex results from remote surveillance and monitoring investigations.
- Comment on proposed changes to policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Essential
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting
- Customer Care experience
- Knowledge of patients' needs when being treated/cared for in a healthcare setting
- Accurate data entry, typing and checking skills
- Ability to produce letters/reports using Word and Excel
- Understand own limitations and know where to seek advice and support.
- Have an understanding of the physical and psychological needs of a patient
- Knowledge of the elements of personalised care initiatives in cancer
- Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience of using full range of IT systems and patient data systems
- Experience of working with patients with cancer
Desirable
- Computer Literacy Course e.g. ECDL (D)
