Exciting Opportunity for a Band 4 Occupational Therapist Assistant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Occupational Therapist Assistant to join the children and young people Learning Disabilities team. The successful applicant will join an already established Occupational Therapy Service, which aims to provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and aftercare, whilst being committed to clinical excellence and the provision of high-quality evidence-based intervention.
The Learning Disability team offer interventions to support children and young people aged 0-19 who have a diagnosis of a moderate to profound learning disability and an additional need of a mental illness or behaviours that are challenging to manage. The team provides behavioural interventions collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and local services, to help children and young people to experience the best lives that they can.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the way on supporting the ongoing delivery to empower young people and their carers within our services to learn new skills, overcome obstacles and build confidence and resilience
- Explain and promote the role of occupational therapy and the service
- Maintain safe and effective working practices and take steps to minimise risk
- Develop effective partnerships with appropriate community providers i.e., social care, education and charitable organisations
- Work with the wider multi-disciplinary team
- Use technical/creative skills to assist in the provision of a flexible, client-centred programme of therapeutic activities for individuals/groups of service users and their carers within the learning disabilities team
- Deliver appropriate therapeutic interventions with supervision from a qualified occupational therapist using a range of evidence-based frameworks
- Maintain accurate clinical records and appropriate data
- Engage with clinical reflection, supervision, and training to maintain well-being and safe practices
- Undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the wider service, such as providing duty cover and being part of choice appointments
