Job Opportunity: Support Time and Recovery (STR) Worker – Families
Are you passionate about supporting families, strengthening resilience, and preventing the escalation of safeguarding concerns?
Do you believe that whole-family approaches lead to better outcomes and improved mental health recovery?
We are looking for a committed, compassionate Support Time and Recovery (STR) Worker – Families to join our Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams (NMHT), working in partnership with Birmingham Children’s Trust to provide early intervention, community-based support and effective, joined-up responses for families affected by mental health challenges.
About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference across Birmingham—promoting early help, improving collaboration between children’s and adult mental health services, and ensuring that the needs, voices and strengths of families are at the heart of care planning.
As an STR Worker – Families, you will:
- Help link adult mental health services with children’s services and community networks.
- Work closely with clinicians, families, carers and partner agencies to identify risks early, reduce the impact of adult mental ill health on children, and empower families to build resilience and stability.
- Work jointly with Birmingham Children’s Trust to support coordinated, family-focused intervention.
- Act as a key part of the multidisciplinary Neighbourhood Mental Health Team.
- Provide practical and emotional support to families in their homes and communities.
- Promote mental health awareness and early-help routes in community settings.
- Help families navigate services, understand care pathways and maintain wellbeing.
- Strengthen links with community groups, charities and culturally diverse networks.
- Contribute to preventing escalation into statutory safeguarding services wherever possible.
