Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team Occupational Therapist
Are you an integral part of our multidisciplinary Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team? Do you share our vision and have the energy to contribute to its future development while working with young adults experiencing emerging mental health challenges and their carers?
Your focus will be Occupational Therapy (OT), underpinned by evidence-based clinical expertise and the Social Inclusion and Recovery agendas. You will play a pivotal role in providing direct, individualised OT services, as well as leading our established group programmes to support vulnerable clients in Waltham Forest and beyond. This will require the use of tools like Model of Human Occupation (MoHO), vocational and generic assessments, care coordination, care planning, and implementation with ongoing evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Client Care & Assessment
- Apply OT principles to young adults with complex mental health needs, ensuring tailored, anxiety-free support
- Conduct vocational and generic assessments to identify strengths and barriers to recovery
- Develop and implement care plans as a designated care coordinator
- Provide carer support, advocating for their needs while empowering service users

- Work alongside and supervise the Support Time and Recovery Worker (STR) to coevaluate, implement, and modify the structural group programme in line with emerging client needs
- Ensure consistent adherence to the EIP framework while evolving services based on evolving challenges
Multi-Disciplinary Team Collaboration (MDT)
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, non-statutory organisations and voluntary services
- Foster strong partnerships across Waltham Forest with tailored programmes such as CoPs-only and our nationally-recognised ‘Coping Through Football’ initiative
- Build and maintain interdisciplinary working relationships with clinicians like for a joined-up recovery approach

Initiative Development
- Have opportunities to create new, geographically responsive programmes that align with local rehabilitation and social inclusion needs
- Initiatives to develop comfortable collaboration with our Recovery College and IPS network
Broader Trust Integration
- Contribute to a workplace culture of open peer support and mentorship through participation in NELFT’s informal/formal OT mentorship, our co-located Mental Health and Wellbeing and Physical Health teams, and national EIP services
- Support ongoing professional development through Preceptorship programming and other Trust training initiatives
Salary & Benefits
This role offers paid banding and outer-HCA (High-Cost Area Supplement):
- **Band 5 ( Entry-level OT): **£32,073 - £39,043 **annually (plus 15% HCA supplement)
- Band 6 (Senior OT): £39,959 - £48,117 annually (plus 15% HCA supplement)
Minimum HCA supplement: **- £4,870 per annum **Maximum HCA supplement: **- £6,137 per annum

Starting with NELFT
