Job Summary

We have a great opportunity for a People Advisor to join our People Team based at Good Hope Hospital. You will be working to the Senior People Partner and with the Senior People Advisor in the delivery of people priorities to support the Trust's ambition and intent to create the best and safest place to work, where our people thrive through better and healthier lives made possible by fulfilling work. This role is pivotal in supporting our managers and teams across Good Hope Hospital, helping to shape a positive and inclusive working environment. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders across a wide range of staff groups and have experience of a busy workload, always prioritising effectively. You will need to live and breathe our values of being kind, connected and bold as well as being inclusive, fair and supportive.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

The role involves coaching and mentoring line managers and HR colleagues, delivering training to upskill leaders, and supporting the job evaluation process. You'll be expected to think creatively, challenge existing practices, and through the advice you give and relationships you build, you will also support embedding the principles of the Trust Behavioural Framework and Just and Learning Culture.

You will be well versed in; working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple conflicting demands and pressures, whilst continuing to provide guidance to the wider management team and managing a caseload of varied employee relation matters such as disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance improvement.

We are looking for someone with a CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent), who has sound generalist HR experience. It is essential that you can demonstrate your expert knowledge in the field of employee relations and have up to date working knowledge of employment law; keeping yourself informed with legislative changes and best practices, with a focus on people over process.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HR Knowledge acquired through relevant training and experience e.g. Level 5 CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) to degree equivalent level.
  • Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience in HR including providing generalise HR advice.
  • Experience of preparing, analysing and presenting case reports
  • Up to date and thorough working knowledge of Employment Law and Human Resource Best Practice

  • Experience of working in partnership with Trade unions.

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information with fully developed persuasion, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, without direct supervision and as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills (to include as a minimum: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interpret and apply Terms and Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to set own priorities, meet tight deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to gain and maintain credibility and establish good working relationships with staff at all levels across the organisation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.

  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work across all Trust sites.
