About the Role
An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join our accredited wards at Park Royal Mental Health Centre, where we uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence. Our wards are AIMS-accredited (Accreditation for Inpatient Mental Health Services), awarded by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Key Responsibilities
Band 5 Nurses in Mental Health contribute to safety, clinical care, and service improvement, aligning with the NMC Code of Conduct and NHS patient safety priorities.
Patient Safety
- Apply clinical judgement and risk assessments to maximise patient safety
- Safeguard vulnerable adults/children by recognising abuse risks and escalating concerns appropriately
- Advocate for service users while maintaining transparency in practice
- Supervise teams and reflect on practice to identify quality and safety improvements
- Uphold mandatory compliance training and NMC registration requirements
Clinical Outcomes
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care, adhering to policies and procedures
- Act as patient advocates, overseeing care and ensuring multi-disciplinary collaboration
- Operate autonomously within competency limits while supporting junior staff
- Foster high-performing teams through clear communication and shared learning

Eligibility & Requirements
Education
- Essential: Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC)
- Desirable:
- Experience in mentorship or completion of a preceptorship programme
Experience
- Essential:
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care—adjusting for rapid changes
- Maintain detailed, accurate records
- Experience in medication administration (Knowledge of medication rounds and safe practice)
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
- Desirable:
- Prior work in Acute Mental Health
- Experience in facilitating group therapy
- Experience managing care teams
Skills & Abilities
- Essential:
- Build warmth, empathy, and trust through effective communication (with colleagues & service users)
- Operate independently with initiative under limited supervision
- Recognise mental health needs and advocate for a person-centred approach
- Provide supervision to junior nurses & students
- Prioritise workloads efficiently
- Engage in management supervision & clinical governance
- Desirable:
- Experience in leading a ward or similar role
Knowledge & Competency
- Essential:
- In-depth Mental Health Act 1983 (and amendments) knowledge
- Commitment to the NMC Code of Conduct
- Familiarity with the Care Programme Approach (CPA) Framework
- Updated knowledge on mental health care trends and national initiatives
- Proficiency in risk assessment and management
- Culturally sensitive and dignified care delivery (respecting autonomy)
- Strict confidentiality upholding and advocacy awareness
- Additionally:
- Pass PMVA (Physical Intervention/Peedleuse) training and competence assessments (mandatory)
