Job Summary

Are you a highly motivated and dynamic individual that drives for continuous service improvement? Are you caring, compassionate, and committed to providing the best care for patients? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 622 for two band 5 staff nurses on 12-month fixed-term contracts.

Ward 622 is a 32-bedded acute oncology ward. 28 beds are dedicated to acute oncology patients and 4 beds are dedicated for patients requiring emergency admission for oncology/haematology intervention.

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic band 5 nurses that have a passion for oncology nursing. Ward 622 thrives on sharing our knowledge and training junior members of staff and students. You will work closely with healthcare assistants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, the medical team, ward sisters, and the ward manager to ensure we are delivering the best in care.

Experience within oncology is not essential as our excellent clinical educators will provide full specific oncology training within the trust, and we also encourage staff to attend university courses within the specialty.

We would welcome informal chats or visits before or after your application - you can contact the Senior Charge Nurse Jake Ramsay on the contact details provided.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
