Band 5/6 Developmental Speech and Language Therapist

About the Role

The BHFT Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy team are looking for 2 full-time developing band 5/6 therapists to work in our service. We currently have vacancies at our Wokingham and East Berkshire sites, though occasionally you may need to work at other sites or attend meetings within the locality – both East and West Berkshire.

Requirements

We are looking for either an NQP or a clinician with experience, motivation, and a desire to be part of a growing and enthusiastic team.

Responsibilities

As a Developing SLT, you will be supported to make the transition from NQP to autonomous practitioner with guidance from senior staff. For newly qualified staff, you will work your way through our Preceptorship programme over the first year of employment which will help you make this transition and consolidate all the skills and knowledge gained throughout your training. You will be closely supported to sign off your NQP and dysphagia competencies. Following this, we will support you to develop skills and complete necessary competencies to move into a band 6 role within the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
