Join Our CAMHS Team: Band 6 CPN / Mental Health Practitioner

Job Overview

Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, or experienced Mental Health Practitioner? Can you make a real difference in the lives of young people facing complex challenges?

The CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) Outpatient Team within Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland (LLR) is seeking a motivated Band 6 practitioner to join our dynamic and supportive team. You will work closely with young people dealing with significant hurdles, including:

  • Young people in foster or residential care
  • Adopted children
  • Unaccompanied asylum seekers
  • Young people experiencing homelessness
  • Those involved in youth justice

In this full-time, permanent role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments
  • Develop and implement care plans to support young people in the community
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (MDT), including:
    • Psychiatrists
    • Social Workers
    • Occupational Therapists
    • Psychotherapists
    • Peer support workers
    • And the young people and their carers themselves

Ideal candidates are experienced practitioners who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Applications from registered mental health nurses and therapeutic social workers are welcome.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), delivering comprehensive initial and ongoing mental health assessments and treatment for children and young people, considering family context, mental health needs, and identified risks.
  • Collaborate with MDT colleagues to determine the most appropriate care pathways and interventions, ensuring care is person-centred and holistic.
  • Liasise effectively with external agencies, including health, education, and social care services, to support coordinated and integrated care planning.
  • Contribute to the development of others by supporting student learning, including:
    • Providing supervision
    • Offering shadowing opportunities
    • Facilitating a positive learning environment
