General Radiographer (Band 6) – Surrey NHS Imaging Department
Location: Surrey Banding: Band 6 Start Date: ASAP Duration: Ongoing Rate: £27–£28 per session Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 0700–1900
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated General Radiographer (Band 6) to join their NHS imaging department in Surrey. This short-term yet ongoing role offers flexibility for professionals who thrive in fast-paced, patient-focused environments.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be an integral part of a supportive healthcare team, delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring efficient RADCAB (Rapport, Assessment, Diagnosis, Communication, Action, betterment) process and patient safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of routine radiographic procedures, including X-rays, CT, and MRI support, adhering to First Do No Harm (Primum non nocere) principles.
- Operate imaging equipment while maintaining high image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
- Ensure accurate and secure patient record-keeping, complying with data protection regulations (GDPR and Caldicott principles).
- Collaborate closely with radiologists, doctors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic outcomes.
- Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety regulations and departmental protocols.
- Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in all interactions with patients, ensuring a caring and positive experience.
- Act as a trusted team member, contributing to efficient workflow while maintaining a team-first approach.

Requirements
Essential:
- Registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)
- Band 6 experience or equivalent in a radiography setting
- Certified in manual handling, radiation safety, and basic life support (BLS) if applicable
- Proficient in general radiographic techniques, including positional imaging and contrast studies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients of all backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
- Reporting capability of findings as per policy (observational vs. interpretative readings).
Desirable:
- Experience working in an NHS or private healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with digital radiography systems (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems - PACS).
- Knowledge of UK radiography guidelines (SCoR, NHS England standards).
