Job Summary

Would you like to join an established and effective team working with Stroke and Neurological patients in the community setting? The ESD team are seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our established ESD therapy team and work closely with the team to drive the service and its outcomes. You will manage a clinical caseload, complete assessment and therapy plans, whilst offering clinical supervision and support to your team, working closely with the wider therapy and multidisciplinary team to ensure quality, patient centred care and rehabilitation. It is essential you have a driver's licence and own a car for this community role. You will be line managed and supervised by a Band 8a Physiotherapist.

The multidisciplinary Stroke & Neurology team at Good Hope Hospital is strong and supportive. The team aims to work in an integrated manner with their AHP colleagues and work very collaboratively with team members. We are held in high regard in the hospital and strive to provide excellent post stroke intervention.

This post is for 18.75 hours per week.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

We are looking for a Band 6 Physiotherapist for the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team for Stroke & Neurology patients. It is essential they have good clinical skills, good communication and interpersonal skills. The post-holder must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have good organisational, time management, problem solving skills and an enthusiasm for service development.

The Band 6 PT will manage a clinical caseload and will undertake a lead role in assessing, treating and discharge planning ESD stroke and neurological patients. The post holder will work closely with the MDT on the Acute Stroke Unit and support other therapy teams working with Stroke & Neurology patients at GHH. You will join an established Stroke & Neurology therapy team to provide support your development and accomplishment of Band 6 PT competencies.

Applicants must be prepared to participate in our 7-day working service and have a driving licence.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Registered with Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC).
  • A levels or equivalent qualification.
  • Good standard of general education including GCSE Maths and English grade C and above.
  • Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.

Desirable

  • Member of specialist interest group.
  • Attendance at Clinical Educators course.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients within this speciality / within the NHS with experience of elderly and frail elderly, respiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Experience Of Working On a Physiotherapy On-call Service.
  • Experience of working with student physiotherapists and assistants.
  • An ability to analyse clinical and non-clinical complex facts and situations, which require the interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
  • An ability to plan, organise, formulate and adjust complex plans.
  • An ability to supervise and delegate work to physiotherapists, assistants and students.

Desirable

  • It is desirable that the candidate will have had some experience within speciality area.

  • Able to contribute to the 7-day weekend service, extended out of hours and overnight on-call Respiratory Physiotherapy service.
