JOB OPPORTUNITY

BAND 6 SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST

Specialist Secondary School | South London | Full time | Permanent

We are looking for a Band 6 SaLT to lead the SLT provision within one established specialist senior school starting in September. This role will be supporting predominantly verbal autistic young people on areas such as social communication and emotional regulation in a neurodiversity affirming way.

THE ROLE

  • To deliver dynamic and engaging speech and language therapy interventions to students with SLCN.
  • To assess student’s needs and produce reports to share with parents and school teams.
  • To deliver training to parents and members of school staff on a range of topics (Supported by a band 7 therapist where needed).
  • To work with the schools’ SEND Teams to ensure high outcomes for the students.
  • To work collaboratively with the MDT at the school (OT, Drama Therapy, Dyslexia Teacher), attend MDT meetings and Team Around the Child meetings.
  • To manage your own caseload and organise the caseload of the Speech and Language Therapy Assistants.
  • To undertake a continuous review of each individual student’s speech and language progress and overall provision and report to the Senior Leaders regularly regarding this.
  • To liaise closely with SENDCOs, teachers and teaching assistants in curriculum planning, target setting and the development of resources.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Appropriate degree qualification.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists registered.
  • Passionate about working in a Neuro Diversity Affirming way.
