Band 7 Local Security Management Specialist
Opportunity: Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS) - NLMHP
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen at the NLMHP for the appointment of a Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS). This role will serve as the security management specialist lead, offering advice and guidance to the Partnership on security strategies, policies, and procedures. Your focus will be to ensure the safety and security of service users, staff, and visitors across sites and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement security-related policies and procedures, including audits and risk assessments in hospital and community settings.
- Introduce and promote violence and aggression reduction standards across the organisation to minimise harm risk to staff, patients, and visitors.
- Serve as the Partnership lead for Operation Cavell, working with the Metropolitan Police, CPS, and NHS to enhance prosecutions against offenders.
- Take on the role of MAPPA lead for Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust.
- Work closely with external agencies, including police, prison services, and other NHS organisations, in response to incidents of crime or violence/aggression.
- Follow DoH, NHS England, NHS Fraud and Security Management Service, and other NHS regulatory bodies.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations on security policy implementation.
- Oversee and report on the operational compliance of security policies to key Board, Executive, Audit & Risk, and Health & Safety Committees.
- Escalate critical security risks requiring immediate attention.

Undertake all security-related duties within the NHS Security Management Service framework and in alignment with the Partnership's values.
Requirements
To fulfil these duties effectively:
- Committed adherence to the NHS Security Management Service’s ethical and professional guidelines.
- Strong understanding of hospitals and community security standards.
- Experience in risk assessment, auditing, and policy development.
- Sound knowledge of Operation Cavell and related criminal justice processes.
