Job Description: We are seeking a HCPC registered and experienced Locum Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist to oversee the inpatient stroke pathway at Calderdale Royal Hospital. The role involves leading and developing the speech and language therapy team within the acute stroke service, managing a complex caseload, and ensuring high standards of care and clinical practice. You will collaborate closely with the stroke multidisciplinary team (MDT) and maintain strong links with the speech and language therapy team. As this is a pivotal time for stroke services, you will have the opportunity to influence and shape service delivery, with support from professional leads and clinical educators. Training in advanced techniques such as video fluoroscopy and FEES will be provided.

What your responsibilities will be for this Speech and Language Therapy role?
In this role, you will manage the stroke caseload and coordinate service delivery across multiple settings, ensuring effective care pathways and seamless transitions for patients. You will perform specialist assessments, implement and evaluate care plans, and develop evidence-based protocols. Leading the team, you will provide supervision, support, and training, while also contributing to service development, clinical audits, and MDT meetings. Your role includes managing clinical standards, participating in recruitment, and ensuring high-quality patient care within the budgetary constraints of the Trust.
Requirements:
- HCPC registration is essential.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Extensive experience with adult caseloads, particularly in stroke and dysphagia.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a clinical team.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
