Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a Specialist Pelvic Physiotherapist. We have a 12-month fixed term, full-time contract and a 24-hour per week permanent contract. Both Band 7 posts will join our specialist Pelvic Health Service, covering UHB and Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital.
We're looking for qualified physiotherapists who have some previous pelvic health physiotherapy experience. The candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and develop and maintain effective working relationships with GPs and other healthcare professionals across the ICB. Excellent IT skills are essential as the role requires working across a range of clinical systems across the two trusts.
The post holder will contribute to the day-to-day work and ongoing development of the PPHS. Candidates will need clinical, leadership and research skills. A flexible approach, and team working, organizational and time management skills are essential. Whilst you will have a close working relationship within the PPHS team and wider MDT—there will be a lot of autonomous working as the service operates across 4 sites. There will also be elements of remote working within the role.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
- To take a major role in the advanced physiotherapeutic assessment, management and treatment of pelvic health patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions; to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualized specialist treatment programme.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
- To support day-to-day management (reviewing performance and progress, allocation and checking of work) and training to junior physiotherapy staff and deliver training, to ensure competence in carrying out duties with patients with pelvic health problems.
- Plan the supervision and education, and assess the performance of physiotherapy students as required; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
- Undertake regular evidence-based audit and research projects (as appropriate) to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to Clinical Team Leader for changes to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice, and contribute to service protocols within own area of clinical practice, in collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy.
- Registered with Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC).
- A levels or equivalent qualification.
- Good standard of general education including GCSE Maths and English grade C and above.
- Evidence of CPD including recent post-graduate training relevant to clinical specialty.
Desirable
- Member of specialist interest group.
- Attendance at Clinical Educators course.
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience at Band 6 working with patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions within Pelvic Health.
- Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients within this specialty.
- Supervision of student physiotherapists and assistants.
- Demonstration of specialist knowledge in physiotherapy and specialist area, across the range of procedures and working practices, with the appropriate theoretical and practical experience.
- Attendance at post-graduate courses relevant to the specialist area and physiotherapy.
- CPD portfolio showing evidence of attendance at mandatory training and evidence of in-service training.
- Evidence of audit / R&D activity on a regular basis.
Desirable
- Attendance at post-graduate training in specialty area.

- Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, coordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual physiotherapy treatment of patients.
- An ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information.
- An ability to empathize and reassure.
- An ability to persuade, motivate and negotiate.
- An ability to communicate where there are barriers to understanding.
- An ability to contribute to the clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants.
- An ability to analyze clinical and non-clinical complex facts and situations, which require the interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
- An ability to plan, organize, formulate and adjust complex plans.
- An ability to supervise and delegate work to physiotherapists, assistants and students.
- An ability to propose changes in policies/procedures which may improve the service.

Desirable
- Attendance at post-graduate training in specialty area.
- Experience of lecturing to mixed audiences e.g. Registrars as part of their teaching programme.
