Advanced Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) Pharmacist
We are seeking an Advanced Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) Pharmacist. It is an exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, following successful implementations of Oracle Cerner (2021) and Cleo EPS (2026).
About The Role
The focus is on continuing to embed the use of the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration system to:
- Further optimise it for enhanced patient outcomes
- Support the go-live of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
The Advanced EPMA Pharmacist plays a pivotal role within the EPMA team, contributing to system management and development. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the design and configuration of the system
- Leading digital innovation
The WHTH Pharmacy and Electronic Patient Record (EPR) departments are dedicated to promoting wellbeing and professional development in a collaborative environment. The Trust is proactively investing in new digital technologies to enhance patient care and improve staff experience.
This role is full-time, with options for flexible working including home or remote working.
Key Aspects Of The Role
- Supporting EPMA and EPS system configuration, development, and testing
- Training and supporting staff (including pharmacy teams, prescribers, nurses, and allied health professionals)
- Collaborating with the Pharmacy Team Lead to address workforce and technical challenges reported by end users
- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EPMA and EPS, promoting safe system usage
- Supporting investigations into medication-related incidents alongside multidisciplinary teams
- Independently scoping change requests and fostering digital innovation
- Analysing data to drive benefits realisation and enhance outcomes

Requirements & Fit
Ideal candidates must:
- Effectively manage competing demands in multidisciplinary, multi-priority settings.
- Show genuine interest in digital innovation. Experience with electronic prescribing systems is strongly preferred.
The role also requires:
- Collaborative skills to co-design practical solutions across the Trust.
- Stakeholder engagement expertise to align differing perspectives.
