Theatre and Catheter Lab Manager (Band 8c)

The Heart Directorate at Royal Brompton Hospital is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dynamic Theatre and Catheter Lab Manager (Band 8c). This is an exciting time to join the Service as we transform our pathways within the Heart, Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Our division is committed to clinical transformation and innovation, providing multiple opportunities to drive change.

Based at the Royal Brompton site, you will oversee five dedicated cardiothoracic operating theatres, one hybrid theatre, and five cutting-edge cardiac catheter laboratories covering thoracic, cardiac, and congenital specialties. Working closely with the General Manager, Clinical Directors, and nursing leadership, you will ensure our services reflect our values: Caring, Ambitious, and Inclusive. We are looking for a collaborative leader to optimize clinical activity and ensure the highest standards of patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Ensure the smooth day-to-day running, efficient management, and patient flow across all Theatres, Perfusion, and Cath Labs.
  • Strategic Development: Partner with Theatre and Cath Lab Directors to align clinical activity, optimize resource utilization, and execute long-term strategic plans.
  • Financial Accountability: Hold responsibility for setting and managing pay and non-pay budgets, identifying savings, and ensuring financial efficiency.
  • People Management: Line manage designated direct reports, support workforce development, and foster multi-disciplinary collaboration alongside nursing leadership.
  • Governance & Risk: Oversee robust clinical governance frameworks, investigate complaints or incidents, and manage departmental risk mitigation.
  • Procurement: Lead materials management and procurement strategies for high-value equipment and consumables.
