Band A Dental Officer
🔍 Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated team player with excellent communication skills to deliver clinical treatment in accordance with a Band A duties and Welsh Government policy.
We would also consider a dental therapist for this role, within the scope of practice outlined by the GDC. Positions employed under Personal Contract Services (A4C) agreements, starting at a Band 6 salary.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
This opportunity will provide:
- A full range of high-quality NHS dental care for diverse patient groups, enhancing access to NHS dental services.
- A key role as a General Dental Practitioner at our Corwen Dental Clinic, while collaborating closely with dental nurses and therapists to implement a skills-mix model of care.
- Support in clinical skills development, participation in service improvements through clinical governance, audit, and peer review.
Working With Us
We form part of the North Wales Community Dental Service, employing over 200 staff and fully committing to continuing professional development.
Our clinical services include:
- Inhalation Sedation, delivered by most dentists and therapists across our sites (training available).
- IV Sedation and General Anaesthetic services provided at three hospitals.
- Paediatric Dentistry expertise through a visiting Consultant Dentist at Alder Hey Hospital.
Additional enhanced services include:
- Intermediate Tier Dentoalveolar Surgery
- Special Care Dentistry, including support for the Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
- Direct Access and Inhalation Sedation training for Therapists
- Preventative oral health promotion programmes
- Expansion of skill-mixed models in dental care.

- Perform Core Dental Service (CDS) tasks as agreed (aligned with Band A Dental Officer duties).

Essential
✅ Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC). ✅ Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery (or equivalent). ✅ Maintaining postgraduate continuous professional development policies. ✅ Safeguarding certification (Child & Adult Protection). ✅ Intermediate Life Support (ILS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (pILS) certifications. ✅ UK-accredited Vocational Dental Training (or equivalent).

- Recent experience in NHS Core Dental Service/salaried positions or GDS.
- Adequate knowledge of all general dental procedures.

- Experience in deployment of Dental Care Professionals.
- Knowledge of Emergency Dental Services and safety net provision.
