Community Mental Health Nurse (Eating Disorders Service) – Band 6 (Bank Contract)
Based in Welwyn, working within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT).
About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Community Mental Health Nurse to join our Temporary Staffing Team, providing high-quality specialist care for individuals with moderate to severe eating disorders.
As part of the Community Eating Disorders Service, you will:
- Collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to assess service users' needs
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans
- Promote empowerment, recovery, and evidence-based treatment
- Support the emotional and physical health of service users and their families
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality specialist care for people with moderate to severe eating disorders
- Undertake phlebotomy training (under supervision) to monitor physical health of severe eating disorder patients
- Manage high-risk community cases in partnership with consultant psychiatrists and senior support staff, prioritising both recovery and safety
- Liaise with GP practices across assigned quadrants
- Educate nursing and non-nursing staff, acting as a clinical role model
- Ensure clinical standards are maintained, working closely with the Team Leader and Professional Lead
- Contribute to team efficiency, including outcome measures, and deputise for the Team Leader when needed
- Maintain effective working relationships, documentation, and communication with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary teams

Professional Requirements
- Hold a valid NHS/NMC Professional Registration
- Be prepared to travel between multiple Trust locations (work experiences may require regular use of personal transport)
- Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to training, meetings, and additional tasks as required
Flexibility & Professionalism
- This is a bank contract position with shifts accommodating diverse needs
- Requires physical mobility/transport and on-call flexibility in line with trust rota arrangements
