Bank Band 6 Specialist Inpatient Physiotherapist

Role: Band 6 Qualified Physiotherapist – Senior Practitioner

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients presenting with diverse and complex conditions. Develop and implement individualised treatment programmes.

  • Manage an autonomous caseload within a designated service area or for specific patient types:

    • Work without direct supervision (received through mentorship, peer review, and formal training).
    • Access support and advice on-demand from senior physiotherapists as needed.
  • Operate as an autonomous practitioner, fulfilling all clinical duties independently.

  • Supervise and educate physiotherapy students to graduate entry standards:

    • Collaborate with universities to align teaching approaches with degree-level requirements.
  • Lead evidence-based audit projects to enhance clinical practice:

    • Propose changes to service protocols and share feedback with clinical leads.

  • Ensure professional and legal accountability for personal clinical practice.

Clinical Essential Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients, including those with complex conditions or multiple pathologies. Apply advanced clinical reasoning and physical assessment for accurate diagnoses.

  • Design and deliver individualised physiotherapy treatment plans:

    • Using evidence-based practice and personalised treatment skills, informed by assessment findings.
  • Take delegated clinical responsibilities from senior colleagues:

    • Managed specialist treatment cohorts across rotations, providing evidence-based assessment and care.
  • Establish physiotherapy prognoses and guide intervention:

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to set achievable goals and discharge plans.
