Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist (Band 8a) – Bank Contract

About the Role
HPFT is seeking experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologists or CBT Therapists to join their Temporary Staffing Team on a Bank Contract basis. The role requires you to provide expert psychological assessment, treatment, and supervision within an NHS foundation trust focusing on mental health, learning disabilities, and children's/teenagers' psychosocial development.

Key Responsibilities
Core Clinical Duties
- Undertake specialist psychological assessment and treatment for adults with complex mental health difficulties
- Conduct autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments, including diagnosis identifications (with potential further training if needed)
- Provide expertise in a niche therapeutic area, offering consultation and strategic advice to multidisciplinary teams
- Work closely with local psychology teams and all psychological therapy colleagues across service settings

Supervisory & Development Role
- Supervise Band 7 Psychologists and trainee Psychologists, ensuring high-grade clinical, professional support and mentoring
- Implement policies for clinical supervision, including training of junior colleagues
Leadership & Innovation
- Propose and deliver policy and service development
- Conduct research, service evaluations, and audits within assigned teams or services
- Contribute to training and educational development for psychologists, across internal programmes
Operational Requirements
- Be prepared for regular travel between various HPFT sites across Hertfordshire
- Work autonomously while adhering to NHS professional practice guidelines and Trust procedures
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Professional Registration (e.g. as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist)
- Substantial experience in psychiatry or health care settings
- Leadership of multidisciplinary teams, with strong supervisory and training skills
Essential Skills
- Capacity for collaborative working across HPFT’s diverse clinical teams
- Experience in complex mental health assessments and treatment planning
- Autonomy, conscientious adherence to ethical guidelines, and a research-informed practice approach
