Care Assistant – Supporting Outstanding Later Life Care

Location

Park View Care Home, Feetham Avenue, Forest Hall May require occasional work from alternative locations with prior notice

Key Responsibilities

Resident-Centred Care Delivery

  • Ensure residents’ wishes, preferences, and autonomy guide all care choices.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain relationships that enrich their lives.
  • Deliver personalised support for daily living needs, including:
    • Care plans implementation (e.g., bathing, dressing, nutrition, mobility).
    • Enhancing social connections with family and the local community.
    • Empowering independence wherever possible.

Service Operations

  • Contribute to efficient service delivery in alignment with company standards.
  • Follow care plans and report any changes in resident needs to senior staff immediately.
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure residents’ welfare is steadfastly protected.

Interprofessional Collaboration

  • Build trusting relationships with colleagues, families, and external agencies.
  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams (healthcare professionals, therapists, etc.) to optimise resident outcomes.

About the Role

Essential Criteria

Education/Qualifications

  • Proficient verbal and written English skills.

Personality & Attitudes

Adherence to fundamental care values and consistency in:

  • Open dialogue when challenges arise.

  • Upholding anti-discrimination principles and inclusive practice.
  • Promoting compassion, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Technical Abilities

  • Consistently high standard of communication (verbal/written) when liaising:
    • With residents, families, and loved ones.
    • With teams, professionals, and emergency contacts.
  • Close attention to detail for:
    • Maintaining accurate care records and plans.
    • Observing resident needs and reporting changes promptly.
  • Hands-on practical support for activities of daily living (e.g., mobility aid use, toileting, nutrition).

Training & Commitment

  • Willingness to undertake mandatory training (statutory/role-specific).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks including the CQC (Care Quality Commission).
  • Commitment to ongoing personal/professional development.
  • Full adherence to company policies and operational procedures.

Desired Criteria (Advantageous but not mandatory)

  • Previous experience in care residential, community, or support roles.
  • Familiarity with dementia or disability-inclusive care practices.
  • Prior exposure to working with vulnerable adults.
