Bank Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant – With Cygnet Hospital Sheffield

About the Role

We are looking for an outstanding Bank Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be working bank shifts at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care.

About Cygnet Hospital Sheffield

Cygnet Hospital Sheffield offers:

  • General adolescent and intensive CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) support for male and female adolescents across three distinct wards.
  • A dedicated adult service where women are supported by a multi-disciplinary team focused on regaining independence, maintaining family links, and preparing for discharge.
  • A therapy-, education-, and community access-focused approach, with a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Separate CAMHS wards where young people receive intensive support tailored to their needs, led by a full multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Assisting the team in preparing balanced, appetising meals
  • Performing basic food preparation and cooking tasks
  • Washing utensils, dishes, and ensuring proper storage
  • Sorting, storing, and distributing ingredients, checking deliveries, and assisting with stock ordering
  • Maintaining personal hygiene and ensuring the kitchen is clean and hygienic
  • Handling, maintaining, and storing kitchen equipment as per Cygnet procedures
  • Adhering to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations for handling chemicals.

You are ideally:

  • Passionate about catering, preferably with experience in a care setting
  • Enthusiastic, keen to learn, and willing to teamwork
  • Polite, professional, and positive at all times
  • An excellent communicator, able to liaise across all levels
  • Able to work independently and under supervision
  • Diligent, proud of maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
