Bank Chef – Contract Role (Glencorse Care Home, Penicuik)
Glencorse Care Home is a purpose-built care home in Penicuik, offering Residential, Nursing, Dementia, and Respite care for up to 54 residents. Since opening in November, it has earned a reputation as one of the top-rated care homes in the region on Carehome.co.uk.

Contract Terms
£14.61 per hour – bank contract (shifts based around your availability)
- Flexible hours available
- Paid PVG check, pension, and uniform

Role Overview
As a Bank Chef, you’ll play a critical role in delivering high-quality, nutritious, and enjoyable meals—a cornerstone of daily life in our care home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the kitchen during periods of annual leave, increased occupancy, or added demand
- Ensure meals meet individual dietary needs and preferences of residents
- Provide flexible, reliable cover to maintain consistency
- Support all aspects of food preparation, service, stock control, and food hygiene
- Maintain high standards in a professional, well-organised kitchen
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and team under the priority of quality, teamwork, and resident wellbeing
This role is perfect for a chef seeking flexibility while contributing to a supportive, dynamic kitchen environment.

What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications:
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 (or equivalent) OR currently working towards them
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (required)
- Experience:
- Proven experience working in a professional kitchen
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Preferences (but not essential):
- Previous experience in a care environment
