Salary: £14.93 per hour (£13.93 per hour with a £1 market enhancement)

MAIN PURPOSE
To prepare and cook meals to the standard set by Brainkind, while supervising the kitchen and Catering Assistant staff in the absence of the Head Chef.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all food is correctly and safely prepared, stored, and presented to meet Brainkind standards.
- Oversee cleanup procedures, ensuring all equipment is left clean by the end of each shift per established systems.
- Maintain and record cleaning schedules and equipment maintenance in line with Brainkind policies and procedures.
- Report equipment faults, repair, and maintenance needs following local procedures.
- Log all required information adhering to Brainkind policies and procedures.
- Identify and report any unmet training needs in equipment use or processes.
- Maintain a safe working environment, uphold service user confidentiality, and manage additional tasks as necessary.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor costs and expenditures while ensuring they stay within approved limits (no budgetary responsibility).
- Accountable for the safety and use of materials, components, products, and equipment.
- Provide catering services by deputising for the Head Chef, ensuring staff comply with Brainkind policies.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to deliver services meeting Brainkind and regulatory standards.
ABOUT YOU
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certification (or higher).
- NVQ or SVQ Level 2 General Catering (or equivalent).
- Previous kitchen experience.
- Ability to cook for large groups while accommodating varying dietary needs.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards (e.g., COSHH, Health & Safety, HACCP).
- Proficiency in teamwork and ability to work closely with service users, communicating effectively.
Desirable Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent IT skills.
