As a Bank Cook within HCRG Care Group, you’ll be joining a friendly and supportive catering team at Sheppey Community Hospital, helping to provide high quality meals that support patient wellbeing and experience.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Bank Cook to support our Catering Team at Sheppey Hospital.

You will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving nutritious meals for patients, staff and visitors, ensuring all food is prepared to high standards while following food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures.

This is a rewarding role within a calm and welcoming hospital environment, where you will play an important part in supporting patient care and wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals in line with recipes, dietary requirements and portion standards
  • Support the preparation of specialist meals including soft diets, diabetic meals and allergen-free meals
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Record temperatures and complete food safety documentation accurately
  • Monitor stock levels and support stock rotation procedures
  • Assist with meal service and ensure timely delivery to wards and dining areas
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report faults where necessary
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Cook, Team Leader and wider catering team
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience working within a commercial kitchen, care or catering environment
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
  • Knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a busy kitchen environment
  • Flexible approach to shift work including weekends and bank holidays

Desirable:

  • Experience within healthcare or hospital catering
  • NVQ Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification
  • Knowledge of NHS catering standards
