Bank Logistics Driver | Private hospital | Flexible working shifts | Manchester

Spire Manchester have an exciting opportunity for a driver to work on the flexible staffing bank.

Job Purpose:

Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading deliveries, using technology to map their routes, track their collections and deliveries, making collections and deliveries on time, completing required paperwork, all while providing excellent customer service throughout the working day. Drivers will be appropriately trained in safety and security requirements.

Variable hours, flexible 'Bank' roles are now available to suit business needs and cover staff absences, with out-of-hours work required from time to time. The routes are covered on a rotational basis, are mostly based on a 7.5 hour working day and a 2-hour driving radius of Manchester pathology Hub.

Main duties:

  • Collection and delivery of samples on a pre-designated route/schedule, plus responding to occasional ‘on-demand’ requests.
  • Prepare the van for operation by inspecting its general condition; checking levels and pressures; cleaning the van exterior and interior; and notifying of any vehicle defects which require action.
  • Maintain a safe, confidential operation and clean appearance by complying with organisation operational policies, procedures, and standards, as well as driving rules and regulations.

Skills/qualifications

  • Must have worked in a similar role previously
  • Be a reliable self-starter with good personal time management
  • Communicate well with colleagues and customers
  • Focus on excellent customer service
  • Be deadline-oriented
  • Carry out light lifting
  • Be polite, positive and courteous, even when under pressure
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance with a uniform provided
  • Work on own initiative and within a team
  • Work flexible hours as required, sometimes at short notice
  • Be adaptable to change as the business develops
  • Must be over 21 for insurance purposes
  • Must hold a full clean UK driving licence
  • Computer literate: Be able to use an electronic device to confirm collection and deliveries (training available)

Contract:

Bank, 0 hours contract - flexible shifts as required

Hours:

Combination of shifts 8am - 4pm, 2pm - 10pm or 4pm-12pm and 8pm - 4am (nights)
