Bank Fabrication and Welding Lecturer
**Casual Teaching Contract – [:sprinkler:] Engineering, Logistics and Green Technologies
Salary: Up to £47.39 per hour
This role will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning through innovative, high-quality instructional practices. As a teaching practitioner specialising in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, or a related field, you will deliver industry-relevant professional engineering content, foster student progression, and promote curriculum innovation.
About the Role
The successful candidate will create engaging, effective learning opportunities across multiple qualification levels. You will:
- Develop and deliver holistic teaching strategies that align with national developments in engineering education.
- Provide practical, theoretical, and assessment expertise while reinforcing student independence and professional growth.
- Uphold the College’s values and strategic objectives, ensuring excellence in mission-directed delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching Delivery & Student Support
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons, applying varied teaching and learning techniques to engage diverse learners.
- Ensure a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment with strong behaviour management policies.
- Assess and mark student work in line with College/assessment policies, recording progress rigorously.
- Liaise with Heads of Department to:
- Contribute to programme design and pedagogical approaches for high standards;
- Support curriculum administration (including scheduling, resources, and regulatory adherence);
- Develop English/Maths integration in engineering curricula with cross-disciplinary colleagues.
- Monitor student attendance and development, escalating concerns as needed.

Professional Engagement
- Collaborate on professional development, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Act as a representative at college events (Parent’s Evenings, Open Evenings, etc.).
- Uphold College policies (GDPR, Safeguarding, Health & Safety) and external/international assessment standards.
- Design enrichment activities to enhance practical and vocational engagement.
Diverse Duties
- Support cross-college operations, particularly during enrolment and exam periods.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required by operational needs.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential Criteria
✅ Qualification & Background
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering discipline).
- Relevant vocational experience in construction/civil engineering sectors.
✅ Teaching & Assessment
- Recent experience teaching/assessing on professional engineering/construction courses.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., September TEF, PTLLS) or commitment to completing one.

✅ Pedagogical & Professional Proficiency
- Demonstrated curriculum planning/dedevelopment in construction-engineering contexts.
- Proficient with BIM/Revit—key modelling tools.
- Proficient in computing (generalised software literacy).
✅ Soft Skills & Attitude
- Minimum Level 3 Literacy & Numeracy (or eagerness to gain accreditation).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to set high standards for students/teachers alike.
Desirable Assets (Bonus Points!)
✧ Experience with resource-based learning (including e-learning platforms). ✧ Membership of a reputed engineering/construction professional body (e.g., CEng, ICE). ✧ Expertise in technology and enterprise training delivery (e.g., off-site/simulation training). ✧ Strong knowledge of employer training needs, aligning curricula to industry standards. ✧ Familiarity with quality frameworks for engineering education (e.g., QAA standards).
