Bank Healthcare Assistant – Surgical Ward | Spire Bushey Hospital | Hertfordshire | Private Hospital | Flexible Working Contract | £13 per hour + Excellent benefits
Spire Parkway Hospital is currently recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly Ward Team to join the bank. We are looking for an experienced hospital HCA within the Surgical ward department for flexible shifts.
Spire Bushey Hospital forms part of a 4 site portfolio, and is supported by and works alongside Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Elstree Cancer Centre and Spire Pathology Centre. Our theatre team cover a wide variety of specialties including Ortho, Bariatric, General, Gynae, ENT, Urology, Plastics, Ophthalmics, Spinal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
You will support registered nurses in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care on the Surgical Ward.
- Assisting with personal care, monitoring and recording observations, ECGs, phlebotomy manual handling and general ward support in line with clinical standards and care plans.
- Assisting the team on the surgical ward in the provision of exemplary patient care.
- Contributing to the support and monitoring of patients.
- Supporting nurses and clinicians in preparing patients for their upcoming procedures.
- Accurately documenting patient information and escalating any concerns.
- Providing reassurance and clear information to patients.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment at all times.

Who We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role within a hospital or clinical setting.
- Private Hospital or NHS Hospital experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in: ECGs, taking blood/blood pressures and patient observations.
- Confidence in taking basic clinical observations and carrying out phlebotomy procedures.
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts, including weekdays and weekends as required.
- A compassionate, reliable, and professional approach to patient care.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or a willingness to work towards this qualification) is desirable.
