About the Role
Spire Manchester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join their dynamic hospitality team, working on an as and when basis to cover sickness and annual leave.
Spire Manchester Hospital offers a comprehensive range of specialist treatments in purpose-built private hospital facilities in Didsbury. Part of the award-winning Spire Healthcare group, they deliver world-class expertise with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Working Arrangements
- Hours: Varied, covering all 7 days a week
- Contract type: Bank/Zero hours
- Pay: £12.76 per hour + excellent benefits
Key Responsibilities
As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the high-quality food and beverage service provided to:
- Patients
- Visitors
- Consultants
- Staff
Core Duties (not exhaustive):
- Assist with preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverages at the hospital’s restaurant and wards.
- Engage proactively with patients to provide tailored food and beverage service options.
- Take orders while adhering to special dietary requirements and individual needs.
- Maintain strict stock control, ensuring proper rotation, date checking, and packaging integrity.
- Comply with food safety and hygiene regulations, including statutory kitchen guidelines and health and safety policies.
- Perform general cleaning and kitchen duties as per scheduled tasks.
- Uphold high cleanliness and hygiene standards across all tasks.

Who You Are
We are looking for applicants with:
- Experience in catering (desirable though not essential for applicants entering the sector).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Exceptional customer care ability, particularly in healthcare-friendly environments.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- A sympathetic and caring attitude.
- Flexibility to work:
- Evenings
- Some weekends
- Willingness to adhere to shift availability needs to support the team.
