Catering Assistant | Manchester | Day / Evening / Weekend Shift Cover

About the Role

Spire Manchester Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join their dynamic hospitality team, working on an as and when basis to cover sickness and annual leave.

Working Arrangements

  • Hours: Varied, covering all 7 days a week
  • Contract type: Bank/Zero hours
  • Pay: £12.76 per hour + excellent benefits

Key Responsibilities

As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the high-quality food and beverage service provided to:

  • Patients
  • Visitors
  • Consultants
  • Staff

Core Duties (not exhaustive):

  • Assist with preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverages at the hospital’s restaurant and wards.
  • Engage proactively with patients to provide tailored food and beverage service options.
  • Take orders while adhering to special dietary requirements and individual needs.
  • Maintain strict stock control, ensuring proper rotation, date checking, and packaging integrity.
  • Comply with food safety and hygiene regulations, including statutory kitchen guidelines and health and safety policies.
  • Perform general cleaning and kitchen duties as per scheduled tasks.
  • Uphold high cleanliness and hygiene standards across all tasks.

Who You Are

We are looking for applicants with:

  • Experience in catering (desirable though not essential for applicants entering the sector).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional customer care ability, particularly in healthcare-friendly environments.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • A sympathetic and caring attitude.
  • Flexibility to work:
    • Evenings
    • Some weekends
  • Willingness to adhere to shift availability needs to support the team.
