About The Role
You’ll join Tops Copnor Nursery on a casual (0-hour) contract, ideal for flexible working that fits around your schedule.
This 35-place nursery and preschool in Copnor, Portsmouth, offers:
- Early Education and Childcare for children aged 12 weeks to preschool
- A warm, nurturing environment with a play-based curriculum
- Unique activities like Forest School, Cooking School, Yoga, Boogie Mites, Meditation
- An open-plan, single-level layout
- A large wraparound garden with a dedicated young children’s area

What Does The Role Involve?
As a Casual Nursery Assistant, you’ll:
- Supervise and care for children aged 0–5 years in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment
- Support daily activities, including:
- Play
- Arts and crafts
- Reading
- Outdoor play
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming nursery
- Help with:
- Mealtime preparation and feeding
- Changing and toileting routines
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated team to meet each child’s individual needs
- Follow nursery policies (including safeguarding and health & safety guidelines)

What Are We Looking For?
While we welcome all passionate candidates, we’re particularly interested in:
- Experience (desirable, not essential): Prior work in a nursery, childcare, or early years setting
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s development
- Flexibility to work casually and on-call as needed
- Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
- Team player mindset
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) – costs may apply
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare is advantageous but not required

This role involves regulated activity with children, so we require: ✅ Enhanced DBS check (registered on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one – you’ll cover costs ✅ Eligibility to work in regulated roles (not on Children’s Barred List) ✅ Successful background and reference checks
