Advanced Practitioner Sonographer – Sessional Role
- Rate: £44 per hour
- ** contracts**
- Locations: Royal Stoke Hospital / County hospital / Stafford / Haywood Community Hospital
- Sessions Available: Flexible, 7 days a week ( openings 8:30am – 8pm)
About the Role
We are seeking highly motivated, dynamic, and professional individuals to join our established Advanced Practitioner Sonographers bank.
Key Requirements
- Hold a case-accredited PgC, PgD, or MSc in non-obstetric ultrasound.
- Extensive experience in working independently within the NHS.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for delivering an efficient and high-quality ultrasound service.

- Upper abdominal imaging
- KUB (Kidneys, Ureter, Bladder)

- Testicular scans
- Head/neck ultrasound

*Gynaecology
- Scanning in both Obstetrics (routine antenatal screening) and Gynae clinics.

Vascular & Venous Studies
- Lower limb vein scans for DVT
- Carotid artery assessment
Department Overview
The Ultrasound Department operates from Royal Stoke and County Hospital, alongside community units, providing:
✔ Obstetric & Gynaecological Services
- Routine antenatal screening for ~7,000 deliveries/year.
- Support for early pregnancy units, fetal assessment units, and specialist clinics.
✔ General Medicine & Sub-Specialty Scans
- Outpatient department services.
- Acute inpatient liver/abdominal imaging.
- Vascular, paediatric, and musculoskeletal (MSK) studies.
Operational Details
- Equipment: Access to modern ultrasound machines.
- Shift Pattern: 7-day service (including bank holidays), rotational coverage.
- Pace: High-volume workload with a dynamic and diverse case mix.
