Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse – Chester & Cheshire West (Bank Role)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse to join our bank team in Chester and Cheshire West, supporting a dynamic and fast-paced sexual health service.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a wide range of sexual health and contraception services.
Essential Clinical Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must hold the following competencies:
- Subdermal Implant Fitter & Remover (LOC SDI-IR)
- IUD/IUS Fitter & Remover
These are non-negotiable and must be evidenced with relevant certification.
Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Provide nurse-led clinics for:
- Sexual health
- Contraception
- STI management
- Deliver and manage long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), including:
- Implants
- IUD/IUS
- Support patients with:
- Screening
- Diagnosis
- Treatment
- Ongoing care
- Offer:
- Health promotion
- Education
- Counselling to improve patient outcomes
- Manage your own caseload autonomously while contributing to team-based care
- Assist in the day-to-day running of clinics and ensure smooth service delivery
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to junior colleagues

Requirements
Essential:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC registration
- FSRH Diploma (or equivalent) in contraception
- STIF Foundation (Intermediate desirable)
- Proven experience in sexual health services (Band 6 or experienced Band 5)
- Competence in implant and IUD/IUS fitting & removal (essential evidence required)
- Experience working with Patient Group Directions (PGDs)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes*
- Note: Travel across Coventry & Warwickshire is required.
Desirable:
- Non-Medical Prescriber qualification
- Experience in:
- HIV care
- STI symptomatic screening
- Sexual health advising
- Teaching or mentorship experience
