Bank Speciality Glaucoma Doctor
Location: Bradford, BD10
We are recruiting for a Bank Glaucoma Doctor in Bradford, BD10, offering up to £65 per hour. This is an excellent opportunity for a GMC-registered doctor with strong ophthalmology and glaucoma experience to support a specialist NHS glaucoma service within a modern, patient-focused eye care setting.
The successful candidate will work as part of a skilled multi-disciplinary team, supporting the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of glaucoma patients.
Job Purpose
Working alongside the Lead Consultant for Glaucoma and the wider clinical team, you will carry out glaucoma consultations, assess patient suitability for treatment, develop management plans and deliver appropriate care in line with clinical guidance, internal policies and recognised standards. This position requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.
Main Duties
- Diagnose, assess and manage patients with existing or suspected glaucoma and other ocular conditions
- Carry out pre-operative and post-operative consultations
- Analyse and interpret diagnostic results, including IOP, visual fields, OCT, fundus assessment, CCT and gonioscopy
- Develop appropriate glaucoma management plans in line with relevant guidance, including NICE guidelines
- Deliver treatment for glaucoma patients, including medication management, SLT and PI where appropriate
- Explain treatment options, risks and benefits clearly to patients, carers and families
- Maintain accurate clinical records using electronic patient systems
- Work collaboratively with consultants, optometrists, nurses and wider clinical colleagues
- Support audit, reporting and service improvement activity relating to the glaucoma pathway
- Follow clinical governance, CQC, infection prevention and safeguarding standards
- Attend training, pathway reviews and team meetings as required

What We’re Looking For
- Medical degree from a recognised university
- Valid GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK
- Ophthalmology experience, particularly in glaucoma management
- UK NHS glaucoma clinic experience
- Experience working independently in glaucoma clinics
- Gonioscopy experience
- SLT laser experience
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience using electronic patient administration or medical record systems
- Willingness to work bank shifts and travel to clinical sites where required

- Experience delivering Laser Peripheral Iridotomy
- Experience supporting glaucoma pathway development, audit or CPD activity
