At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
Would you like a varied and rewarding role, supporting people and working in a team? If so, we would love to hear from you.
About The Team
Our provider services support people who have Learning Disabilities and/or Autism with varying levels of need. This is an opportunity to be part of a service which makes a real difference to the lives of those people and their families. We work across Bath & North East Somerset.
We have a particular need for bank staff in our Supported Living Service to cover evenings, weekends, sleep-in duties and waking nights. Many of the shifts offered attract enhanced rates of pay. A bank role can be a brilliant route into a new carer in care and support, or as a flexible work option.
Please note that we review applications and offer interviews as and when we receive suitable candidates. There is no set closing date, however we will take the advert down once we reach sufficient numbers of bank staff so don’t delay in applying!
About The Role
Our support workers fulfil an essential role. Across our service this can vary from supporting people in a day service to keeping them as independent as possible in their own homes. Essential functions across all of our service would include: engaging with a person to support their communication and choices, completing personal care as required, assisting with meals and drinks to the level the person needs support, ensuring medication is taken as directed and supporting each person to live a fulfilled, active life.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
