Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer
An established financial services organisation is looking for a Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to join its IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for the operational support, administration and technical management of critical banking platforms and the infrastructure that underpins them.
Key Responsibilities
Core Banking Platform Support
- Provide day-to-day operational support for core banking applications.
- Monitor platform availability, transaction processing and system performance.
- Support intraday and end-of-day (EOD) processing activities.
- Investigate and resolve batch failures, reconciliation issues and performance problems.
- Assist with application deployments, upgrades and environment maintenance.
- Troubleshoot application, middleware, database and infrastructure issues.
- Work closely with third-party vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
Linux & Infrastructure Administration
- Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux and AIX environments.
- Manage operating system accounts, permissions and scheduled jobs.
- Perform patching, upgrades and routine maintenance.
- Develop shell scripts to automate operational tasks and monitoring.
- Monitor server performance, logs and system health.

Database & Middleware Support
- Provide operational support for Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Monitor database health, storage, backups and performance.
- Support backup, disaster recovery and replication activities.
- Administer Oracle WebLogic environments, including deployments and certificate management.
- Support treasury application environments and associated SQL Server infrastructure.
Service Operations
- Respond to production incidents and restore service within agreed SLAs.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
- Deliver infrastructure, application and database changes through established change processes.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and operational procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, monitoring and platform stability.
Resilience & Compliance
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and resilience exercises.
- Validate backup and recovery processes.
- Ensure compliance with operational, security and regulatory standards.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
- Assist with capacity planning and infrastructure lifecycle management.

Experience Required
- Experience supporting enterprise banking or financial services platforms.
- Previous experience within a banking or regulated financial services environment.
- Hands-on administration of Linux (RHEL) and/or IBM AIX.
- Experience supporting Oracle databases and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of Oracle WebLogic administration.
- Experience supporting overnight batch processing and end-of-day banking operations.
- Strong understanding of IT Operations, Production Support and Service Management.
