Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer (Oracle FLEXCUBE)

London

A UK-based bank is looking for a motivated, hands-on and experienced Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to support, administer, and technically manage its core platforms, including Oracle FLEXCUBE, Oracle ERP, Oracle Financial Crime and Compliance Management (FCCM), Finastra OPICS Treasury Management, and Suade regulatory reporting systems.

You'll be responsible for the availability, stability, performance, and successful daily processing of critical banking applications and associated infrastructure. Working as part of the Banking Infrastructure and Platforms team, you'll provide hands-on support across Linux/AIX operating systems, Oracle databases, WebLogic middleware, daily processes, and EOD batch processing.

What you'll be doing:

Core Banking Platform Operations

  • Provide day-to-day operational support ensuring platform availability and EOD process execution.
  • Investigate and resolve batch failures, performance issues and reconciliation exceptions.
  • Monitor application health and system performance, assist with deployments and platform upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot application, middleware, database and infrastructure issues.
  • Coordinate with Oracle support and third-party vendors.

Linux & AIX Platform Administration

  • Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, and AIX servers supporting banking applications.
  • Manage OS accounts, permissions and scheduled jobs.
  • Perform routine patching, upgrades and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate operational tasks and batch processing.
  • Monitor system resources, logs and performance indicators.

Oracle Database & WebLogic Support

  • Provide first and second-line support for Oracle databases supporting FLEXCUBE, ERP and FCCM environments.
  • Monitor database performance, storage, backup status and operational health.
  • Assist with backup and recovery design, replication monitoring and disaster recovery activities.
  • Support Oracle WebLogic environments including deployments, troubleshooting and certificate management.

SQL Server

  • Provide first and second-line support for SQL Server databases supporting all OPICS environments.
  • Monitor performance, storage and backup status.
  • Support OPICS application troubleshooting and certificate management.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Respond to and resolve platform incidents within agreed service levels.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
  • Execute approved infrastructure, application, database and middleware changes.
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and support guides.
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform stability and automation.

Resilience, Recovery & Compliance

  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and resilience testing.
  • Validate backup and recovery processes.
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures, security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Monitor utilisation trends for capacity planning.

What we're looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience supporting Oracle FLEXCUBE, Oracle ERP, or similar enterprise banking platforms
  • Experience operating within a banking or financial services environment supporting business-critical applications
  • Hands-on experience administering Linux (RHEL) and/or AIX environments
  • Experience supporting Oracle databases and SQL Server, including monitoring, backups, performance analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic middleware environments
  • Experience monitoring and managing overnight batch processing and end-of-day banking operations
  • Strong understanding of IT operational support processes and production service management
