Solicitor – Unsecured Regulated Lending (Meraki Talent on behalf of a global investment bank)
About the Role
Meraki Talent are seeking an experienced Solicitor to join the unsecured regulated lending team at a global investment bank. This critical role involves providing expert legal advice and managing legal risk while acting as a trusted business advisor on consumer credit lending products, including:
- Loans
- Credit cards
- overdrafts
- Other regulated offerings
The team prioritises collaboration, regulatory expertise, and innovation—balancing legal compliance with business agility in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality legal and regulatory advice on consumer lending products.
- Act as a strategic advisor to stakeholders on product development, proposition innovation, and compliance simplification.
- Proactively identify and assess legal/regulatory risks, offering clear articulation with robust rationale and guidance.
- Support the business in navigating complex legal/regulatory challenges—delivering practical and commercially viable solutions.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships between legal, compliance, and business teams.

Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- UK-qualified Solicitor with a strong foundation in consumer credit regulation.
- Specialist knowledge of:
- Consumer Credit Act
- Consumer Rights Act
- Payment Services Regulations
- FCA Handbook (incl. Consumer Duty/Consumer Credit Sourcebook, SYSC/CAD rules)
- Practical experience in delivering prudent, advisory-level guidance on:
- Regulatory risk assessment
- Product innovation
- Compliance design
- Demonstrated ability to balance legal rigor with business pragmatism in a high-accountability environment.
