Purpose and Impact
The role of the Bar and Catering Assistant is to assist in the day-to-day running of the Leisure Services café/bar facilities, ensuring customers receive the correct service within established guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome customers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and approachable manner, delivering excellent customer service at all times.
- Actively contribute to creating a positive experience for guests during all party bookings and events.
- Gather and respond to customer feedback to improve the menu and service quality.
Bar & Catering Operations
- Provide a high-quality bar and catering service at the Leisure Facilities.
- Manage the till float and revenue, ensuring accurate transactions and proper payment processing.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages to order in a quick, efficient, and high-standard manner, adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations.
Food Preparation & Hygiene
- Cook and serve items from set menus as required.
- Ensure that food presentations comply with hygiene standards.
- Regularly check equipment and ensure proper cleaning and maintenance.
- Complete HACCP documentation and maintain compliance with food hygiene legislation.
Workplace Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure café, bar, kitchen, front-of-house areas, stores, and toilets are clean, tidy, and free of health/safety hazards.
- Adhere to formal cleaning schedules and comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Report damages, malfunctions, or concerns immediately to the Duty Officer.
- Strictly enforce opening and closing hours.

Stock Management & Team Collaboration
- Liaise with the Senior Duty Officer – Events regarding stock levels and place orders as required.
- Assist with unloading, storing, and organising deliveries of food, beverages, and supplies.
- Contribute to stock control, including recording wastage tracking.
- Collaborate in meetings and meetings for service improvements, offering innovative suggestions.
Additional Duties
- Perform cross-site work, where applicable, to ensure efficient food and beverage service delivery.
- Maintain and update qualifications and proactively develop professional skills.
Note: Duties may expand beyond this list to retain the core role responsibilities.

- Reports to: Senior Duty Officer – Events
- Responsible for: None
