Ashton Gate Stadium

Ashton Gate Stadium is a leading sports and entertainment venue in Bristol, known for hosting a wide range of high-profile events including football, rugby, concerts, and corporate functions. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to oversee bar operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and efficient service delivery. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive leader with strong operational skills in a high-energy, high-volume environment.

Job Purpose

The Bar Manager will be responsible for managing the operations of all Hospitality bars within the stadium, ensuring smooth service during Match Days and non-Match Day events. Leading a team of casual bar supervisors, staff, and casual workers, the Bar Manager will ensure top-notch service and adherence to health and safety standards, while also focusing on operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of all Hospitality bar areas in the stadium to ensure a high standard of service and guest satisfaction throughout all events within the stadium
  • Motivate and develop a team of bar staff to provide excellent service, addressing customer queries and complaints promptly
  • Manage PAR (minimum stock) levels, placing orders and minimising waste
  • Manage and maintain stock levels and manage monthly stock taking with Finance
  • Manage the ordering, deliveries, storage and supplier discrepancies of all drink relating stock
  • Oversee till operations, and financial reporting
  • Work with the wider team to meet sales and profit targets
  • Maintain and achieve Gross Profit (GP) within beverage outlets
  • Ensure growth in each bar area raising revenue, spend per head and conversion
  • Provide training for bar staff, focusing on service standards, product knowledge, and health and safety
  • Monitor product quality and ensure consistent service standards across all hospitality bars
  • Maintain and achieve GP within the beverage category identifying ways to drive sales and profit
  • Improve speed of service for waiting times and queue management
  • Adhere to all company processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Ensuring EHO compliance, maintaining a high level of cleanliness and clean as you go policy in all areas
  • Ensure quality of product is maintained throughout the stadium
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, including alcohol licensing laws

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager or similar role in a large venue or hospitality setting
  • Excellent customer service and guest experience focus
  • Solid understanding of stock control, ordering, and inventory management
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and alcohol licensing laws
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and targets
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and event days

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a stadium or high-profile event venue
  • Personal license or willingness to obtain one
  • Knowledge of Gross Profit (GP) and strategies for driving profitability
  • Experience managing large beverage stocks and optimizing profitability

Salary: £31,930 per annum

Hours: 5 out of 7 days including evenings and weekends
