Barback Role at Soho House

About the Role

At Soho House, a Barback plays an essential supporting role in the smooth and efficient operation of the bar. Working alongside the bar team, you’ll ensure that bartenders have everything they need to deliver fast, high-quality service to our members and guests.

Your main responsibility is to assist the bar staff and ensure the member gets a superior experience. You will deliver drinks orders from the bar to members’ tables, acting as a point of contact between the bar and the floor.

Key Duties

  • Bring drinks quickly from the bar and deliver them to the correct tables in the restaurants
  • Maintain a spotless, pristine work environment
  • Provide service to, and be accountable for, an assigned section
  • Develop relationships with members to ensure a personalised experience
  • Polish glassware to ensure it is service-ready
  • Assist bar staff by:
    • Stocking ingredients
    • Running drinks
    • Retrieving supplies from storage or cellar
    • Restocking during service
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, which include set-up and break-down of stations
  • Handle all service equipment carefully and store it correctly
  • Maintain a spotless and professional working environment
  • Attend front and back-of-house progress meetings, including:
    • Menu and specials updates
    • Daily tastings

What we are looking for

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a similar capacity required
  • Basic understanding of bar operations, hygiene standards, and stock rotation
  • Personality traits:
    • Hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service
    • Respectful towards colleagues and guests
  • Ability to follow training requirements as outlined in the Club School programme
  • Flexible work schedule required, including:
    • Weekends
    • Holidays (as needed)
  • Ability to take direction, work effectively in a team environment, and autonomously

The salary for this role, if filled within the UK, is as follows:

  • Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour (Fixed)
