Barback – Essential Supporting Role at Soho House
About the Role
At Soho House, a Barback plays an essential supporting role in the smooth and efficient operation of the bar. Working alongside the bar team, you’ll ensure that bartenders have everything they need to deliver fast, high-quality service to our members and guests.
Your main responsibility is to assist the bar staff and secure a superior experience for members. You will:
- Deliver drinks orders from the bar to members' tables, acting as a key point of contact between the bar and the floor.
Responsibilities
Core Tasks:
- Bring drinks quickly from the bar to their respective location in the restaurants and deliver them to members.
- Maintain a spotless, pristine work environment, ensuring cleanliness and neatness throughout shifts.
- Provide service to and be accountable for an assigned section.
- Develop relationships with members to offer personalised service.
- Polish glassware, ensuring it’s always ready for service.
- Assist bartenders by:
- Restocking ingredients.
- Running specified drinks.
- Retrieving supplies from storage or the celler.
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including:
- Setting up bar stations.
- Breaking down stations.
- Ensure all service equipment is handled carefully and stored correctly.

Requirements
Experience & Knowledge:
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role (e.g., barback, assistant bartender, or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of:
- Bar operations.
- Hygiene standards.
- Stock rotation.
Personality & Attributes:
- Hospitable, approachable, and passionate about customer service.
- Respectful towards colleagues and guests.
- Must demonstrate competency as outlined in:
- The training schedule.
- Club School assessments.
Work Commitments:
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to:
- Take direction.
- Work in a team environment.
- Operate autonomously when required.
Compensation
Salary Range (UK):
- £14.50 (per hour) – Note: The range may vary by location.
