The Barback Role at Soho House
At Soho House, a Barback plays an essential supporting role in the smooth and efficient operation of the bar, working alongside the bar team to ensure high-quality service for members and guests.
Your primary responsibility is to assist the bar staff and deliver a superior experience to members. You’ll:
- Deliver drinks orders from the bar to members' tables
- Act as a key point of contact between the bar and the floor

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Drinks Delivery & Service:
- Bring drinks quickly from the bar to the correct tables
- Deliver high-quality, timely service to members

Maintenance & Hygiene:
- Keep the work environment spotless and pristine
- Polish glassware to ensure readiness for service

Assistance to Bartenders:
- Restock ingredients and assist with running drinks
- Retrieve supplies from storage or cellar as needed

Operational Procedures:
- Perform opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down stations
- Handle and store service equipment carefully

- Member Relations:
- Provide personalised service and develop relationships with members
- Attend regular team meetings (front-of-house & back-of-house) to stay updated on menu changes, specials, and daily tastings
Requirements & Qualifications

Experience:
- 2–3 years in a similar role

Skills & Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of bar operations, hygiene standards, and stock rotation

Soft Skills:
- Hospitable, approachable, and passionate about customer service
- Respectful towards colleagues and guests

Certification:
- Must demonstrate competency per training schedule and Club School

Flexibility:
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Must be able to take direction, work independently and collaborate in a team environment
Pay Range (UK)
- £14.50 per hour (flexible range based on market differences in other geographies)
